On Tuesday, last week, we left Montreal around 9:30 am and headed south, without much ado, in the direction of Plattsburg, NY.
In typical fashion where road trips are concerned, we adapted the plan as we went along. Driving down a country road we noticed a small field full of sculptures and backed up to take a closer look. Here are some of the pieces:
Climbing back into the car after a lovely stroll, we followed the road south to Fort Kent and caught the ferry across Lake Champlain to Burlington, Vermont. It was a beautiful crossing; an idyllic summer day on the water.
After a delicious lunch at Sweetwaters, ( I chose an amazing swordfish ciabatta sandwich with salad), we headed for Stowe, Vermont. It's a big tourist draw during the winter, so I was surprised at how much it had to offer at this time of year - lots of trails along the rivers, cute little shops, funky sculptures and ice cream parlours.
